What is the working principle of an airtight valve? What scenarios are they mainly used for?

Airtight valveIt is a typical component used to isolate and seal harmful pollutants in filters. To isolate the gas in the container from coming into contact with external air, or to introduce air in specific situations, this is equivalent to a switch for air entering and exiting the laboratory or other containers. The airtight valve has good airtightness, which can effectively isolate the contaminated filter from the staff, thereby protecting the safety of the staff.

Its typical application is to isolate the filters and contaminated components in the bag in bag out filter system.

The working principle of an airtight valve is that the actuator of the airtight valve can control the opening and closing of the blades. When the airtight valve is connected to the bag inlet and outlet exhaust box, when the bag inlet and outlet exhaust box needs to be replaced with a high-efficiency filter or when the bag inlet and outlet exhaust box needs to be disinfected, the airtight valve is required. At this point, the function of the airtight valve is to isolate the exhaust box at the inlet and outlet of the bag from the ventilation pipe, to prevent gas from entering the bag and ensuring the smooth replacement of the high-efficiency filter. When the airtight valve is connected to the main ventilation pipe, the gas flow in the ventilation pipe can be controlled by opening and closing the blades, and the ventilation pipe can be divided into several parts. The gases in each section of the pipeline do not flow with each other, so the gases in the pipeline can be separated. The frequency of use of airtight valves is relatively low, and all components, including sealing gaskets, should have corrosion resistance and easy cleaning.

When using closed valves in critical areas of biosafety laboratories, it is necessary to ensure zero leakage. There is a national zero leakage standard. Please refer to the national standard documents of the biosafety laboratory. When a closed valve is used in the supply or exhaust section of a regular clean room, it only needs to meet the low leakage requirements of the project or have zero leakage at a specific pressure. In short, when used in pipelines that do not contain harmful gases, there is no need to close the valve to achieve zero leakage. In biosafety laboratories, airtight valves typically appear in the form of support along with high-efficiency exhaust ports (vent type high-efficiency exhaust devices) and bag inlet and bag outlet filter boxes (pipeline type high-efficiency exhaust devices). Although the airtight valve cannot be used alone, its role in the entire ventilation system cannot be ignored. When it is necessary to replace the high-efficiency air outlet filter and bag type inlet and outlet filter box, the airtight valve plays a crucial role. It can block the airflow of individual devices, allowing for the replacement of filters without stopping the ventilation system, thereby ensuring the airflow of the laboratory without affecting its normal operation. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal operation and save costs of the biological laboratory, the function of the airtight valve is very important. So it is completely indispensable in the laboratory.
